"Your children are precious...and we think so too!"

Ethos/Mission Statement

“BarBar is a happy, small, safe and secure environment where every child is valued and treated as an individual. The emphasis is to encourage confidence, effort, kindness and humour, whilst educating and preparing children for school life.”

BarBar  was set up by two friends who met in 1992 whilst both Childminding and running Girl Guide Units within the Stroud area. Carol Barker and Sandra Barton have remained good friends ever since then and have wanted to establish their own Nursery for some years but until the premises at The Rosary School became available, they were unable to realise a joint dream.

The name BarBar comes from both their surnames being Barker and Barton and the wings of the butterfly in flight on the logo signify a unity of friendship and the freedom to explore, and this is carried forward into the settings for the children.

BarBar Nursery at The Rosary School is unique in that it is registered as a full day care setting, but parents/guardians have many options of child care for their children. Full day care from 8.00am to 6.00pm is available for children from 2 years of age, however if you work part-time or want a shorter care session for your child then this is available too.

BarBar also has an on site before school club and an after school club for children, enabling children to play with their peers, school age siblings and integrate across the age ranges.  BarBar  also offer their Out Of School Club services to children from many other local schools including Woodchester, Rodborough, Stroud Valley, Uplands and The Gastrells Schools.

In October 2008 Carol and Sandra purchased the premisies formerly known as "Beanstalk Nursery" from its owner Clare King. They are now offering Barbar Nursery at Stratford Park in Stroud (next to the Leisure Centre). This setting provides all year care for children from birth along with a pre-school led by a graduate. The setting also offers  School Holiday Play Scheme for children up to the age of 11 years.
