In December at The Rosary BarBar we received our routine visit from Ofsted. The inspector was delighted by the children and enthusiastic about the committment of our staff and awarded us an overall "GOOD" grading with four "OUTSTANDING" aspects.
She highlighted and praised us for:-
“Children are extremely happy, confident and have a sense of belonging to the setting, and they are well behaved.”
“Children have excellent relationships with adults and each other.”
“Children are progressing well.”
“Staff are motivated and obviously enjoy being with the children.”
“Staff have exceptional knowledge of each child’s backgrounds and needs.”
Our OUTSTANDING aspects were for:-
Children make a positive contribution
Children feel safe
The setting is outstanding at safeguarding
The setting provides outstanding equality and diversity
Congratulations and well done to Emma, Dee and their team
November 2011- At our Kingsway Nursery, the children and staff dressed up in thier pyjamas for Children in Need day- they raised £80.40- well done everyone!
Our Stratford Park Nursery continues to go from strength to strength- we are 90% full!!- Well done to all of our team for all of your hard work enthusiasm and commitment
Ofsted visited our Kingsway Nursery last month and awarded us a satisfactory grading. The inspector commented that our children settle quickly, play happily with a large range of resources and our staff have a good knowledge of the EYFS
We have now opened our new baby unit at our Kingsway Nursery. Two large playrooms, outdoor opportunities available- spaces now for up to 24 babies!
August 2011- During our Summer Holiday Play Scheme at Stratford Park we had a visit from the Fire Brigade. The children used the fire hoses and had lots of fun!!
April 2011-Kingsway- BarBar have taken on a lease for much larger premises on the Kingsway estate in order to create lots more child care spaces for the Summer term 2011. After a seven week build, we are NOW OPEN !!

July 8th 2011-Children from both BarBar at Stratford Park and BarBar at The Rosary joined forces to raise money for other children less fortunate than themselves. The joined in with the National campaign organised by Barnardo's in a "Toddle". The children toddled around Stratford Park and the lake having been sponsored by family and friends. Back at Nursery afterwards they and their families had a "bring and share" supper and a raffle was held. So far over £387.00 has been raised
BarBar at The Rosary have sucessfully completed their third year of the Bristol Standard Quality Assurance Award. Well done to the team for all of your continued hard work!
Other Information
In July 2010 the children and babies from the Rosary Nursery and Stratford Park Nursery joined forces to "Toddle for Charity." The toddled around Stratford Park lake dressed as pirates to raise over £250 for Barnardos. The toddle was followed by our leavers party and parents stayed and enjoyed the fun too!
In June 2010, all the staff teams attended a First Aid refresher course and Child Protection refresher course- both held "in house" and organised by the nursery owners. The staff teams found these courses beneficial and interesting.
In December 2009 Sandra publised a piece of writing in the "Every Child Journal" highlighting how BarBar meets the Govenment agenda of "Extended Schools". The article explains the importance of joined up working with other professionals to meet the needs of the children within Stroud town and demonstrates how well BarBar is achieving their goals to serve the community.
In November 2009, The Rosary Nursery were sucessful in thier annual update of their Quality Assurance Accreditation- The Bristol Standard, demonstrating that they continue to work well with all of their children and their families.
Since acquiring the premises at Stratford Park, BarBar have undertaken a major refurbishment process. All the walls have been insulted and repainted, the central heating system has been replaced and updated to the highest specification including fitting wall heaters/coolers. The pre-school children are now situated in the ground floor rooms of the building with a separate art room, a large play room and access to the garden. The babies have their own exclusive outdoor patio garden space- overlooking the outdoor pool and two large play rooms, a craft area, sleep room and a milk kitchen.
The nursery provides home cooked meals on the premises from fresh locally sourced ingredients.

In September 2008 BarBar at The Rosary School received a "Quality Assurance Award of The Bristol Standard". This accreditation is awarded to settings that show a committment to developing and improving their practice for the benefit of the children. It demonstrates a good team working ethic, excellent partnership with parents and that the team have a sound knowledge on how to meet the individual and diverse needs of all its children.
In October 2008 the children at The Rosary nursery dressed up for charity to raise funds for Children in Need. They raised over £150.00 and had great fun playing games and decorating biscuits.
