A visit to Scarlet House Care Home

We have been begun taking small groups of children with two adults to Scarlet House Care Home. We walked with the children to the Scarlet House and then caught the bus back to nursery; the children have enjoyed the short bus ride! We have visited three times already on the 15/05/18, 23/05/18 and 14/06/18 and we have two more sessions booked. We hope to continue to regularly visit Scarlet House, changing times and days so all children will have an opportunity to go. We have ensured that all the children that are leaving to go to school and have permission will have had a chance to go.

We believe this is a fantastic opportunity for the children and residents for many reasons. For example: friendships can be built, the children can learn about different generations and different people in the community, the children can bring a lot of happiness to the residents and many more positive outcomes!

The first visit was the music session
The second session was a Tai-Chi lesson
The third session was an arts and crafts session
The next one, we will be visiting and talking to the residents in the lounge areas
The final booked session will be a teddy bear’s picnic.

These sessions so far have been brilliant for the children and residents alike and we look forward to many more care home visits in the future!
