Nursery Deputy Manager required to work across two nursery sites

We are looking for someone with the following skills and abilities:

  • You should have a sense of fun and enjoy making a fool of yourself- dancing, singing and play acting will be required every day
  • You should have a warm smiling face that makes every child feel special
  • You should be able to give warm hugs as required
  • You should possess the skills to quickly & frequently count the heads of numerous moving small people
  • You should have the ability to sing; being in tune is not necessary! The ability to sing in front of a crowd is important though!
  • You should be comfortable talking about bodily functions; you will need to have a strong sense of smell to enable you to respond to said bodily functions
  • You should be able to pretend to eat playdoh creations believably and to pretend to drink numerous cups of imaginary tea
  • You should have the ability to read a ten page story book, upside down, with abundant interruptions per page
  • You should expect to learn new things regularly from the children and other team members
  • You should be comfortable entering public places on the way home from work, with unidentifiable elements on your clothing
  • You should be prepared to have lots of fun in the workplace; laughter is something you can expect to engage in for the most part of your working day
  • Finally, you should be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many young children and their families. There is simply no job quite like it!!

Type of Vacancy: 

Full-Time (Monday-Friday) all year around
Hours of Work: 

8am to 6pm four or five days per week

About the nursery:

BarBar is an established small nursery group with three settings in Gloucestershire and have been helping families with their childcare needs for 17 years. At all of our settings we promote a relaxed and happy atmosphere to enable the children to feel safe, settled and secure, whilst providing a stimulating learning environment and preparing children for the next stages of their lives.

Our nursery teachers’ benefit from an open-door policy with management and owners- views of the teachers are encouraged, valued and supported- so why not join our team soon!

Requirements for this role: 

  • Level 3 in Childcare/Early Years or equivalent
  • Management/Leadership experience
  • Flexibility to work across two nursery sites (according to a rota) and the ability to
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding for the EYFS and CoEL
  • Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND
  • Great understanding of planning, child’s development and how to create an effective learning environment.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in an early years setting

Desirable attributes for this role:

  • A capability to use initiative and to inspire ideas
  • A willingness to learn and undertake training necessary to support the role and the manager and staff teams
  • Knowledge of OFSTED inspections
  • SENCo trained with the willingness to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • DSL trained
  • First Aid trained
  • Food Hygiene trained
