BarBar Nursery Ltd in Quedgeley is a 52 place private Pre-School, Nursery and After School Club, set in a convenient location, close to Gloucester town, near to the M5 motorway junction and nearby the popular park and ride car park in Quedgeley.
Designed and developed by an experienced management team to provide high standards of child care in a safe and secure environment, it also offers an astro-turfed/safety surface play area/garden separated into 3 areas for each age group (babies, toddlers and Pre-School) where children can enjoy outdoor play on a daily basis. Pre-School and Toddlers have free-flow to the garden and all children will have supervised access to outside play areas throughout the day and we also take the children on walks to the park, supermarket or the local library.
The nursery team consists of highly experienced and fully qualified nursery teachers who provide a caring and happy environment in which your child can develop and learn through their play. All nursery teachers who work on the premises have an enhanced DBS check, renewed every 3 years, and an annual disclosure is also carried out. The nursery teachers have continuous professional training in early years childcare and development, first aid, food hygiene and child protection.
Each room has individual adult:child ratios and each nursery teacher cares for a small group of children. Each child is assigned a key worker who will be responsible for the child’s overall individual learning and development. The children enjoy a variety of activities which promote their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
We value parent/carer experiences of their child’s individual needs and appreciate your input on caring for your child. Starting points and parent next steps are given out during the settling in process- we use this information so that we can identify and plan for your child. We arrange settling in sessions for you to get to know us and for us to get to know you and your child. We appreciate the importance of you knowing what your child has learnt and experienced during their time here and we will keep you informed through daily informal chats, online observations and parents’ evenings. Verbal daily feedback will give information on sleep, toileting, food intake and activities undertaken throughout the day.
Quedgeley Facilities
Baby Rooms (for babies up to approx 2 years)
We have two rooms for the babies, with areas for play, sleep and rest. The sleep areas are closely monitored (every 10 minutes) by the staff, along with baby monitors connected across both the rooms. The babies also have their own specific garden to play in and enjoy- giving them freedom to play and explore whilst keeping safe.
In the baby rooms, there is space to crawl/walk and explore in a safe secure setting. The rooms have a warm, relaxed and welcoming feel, and are equipped for messy play, sleeping, crafts, stories and song times and for meal times. Within the baby room, we respectfully ask that no shoes are worn in this room for hygiene reasons.
We aim to provide a comforting and homely environment in which your child’s daily routine will be followed through close liaison with you as parents/carers.
Baby Room
Toddlers & Pre-School (approx 2-4 years)
The children in the Toddler Room are the next step from Baby Room and here the children are encouraged to be slightly more independent and to communicate and reach their expected goals.
Toddler room is the next step in their journey through the Nursery and here potty training and language really starts to fall into place. They will follow a more structured day to help them develop in line with the Early Years Learning Goals set by the DfES. The staff will form a curriculum designed to your child’s individual needs, based on individual next steps determined by observations made on your children, and activities will be planned which are fun and exciting to ensure that they enjoy their time in this room.
Toddler Room & Garden
Within our Pre-school Rooms, the children are encouraged to be independent, and also encouraged to be confident learners, preparing them for their next adventure… School! They are supplied with all the relevant resources to aid them in meeting the expectations of the EYFS and staff use children’s interests, their own observations and the children’s individual next steps to guide and teach them whilst they enjoy their play.
Both of these rooms offer a home corner, book corner, art and craft area, construction area, dressing up and table top games and activities. We use the full resources of the nursery and our surroundings to encourage the children to understand and learn about the world around them.
The children have free-flow access to their gardens where they can play on our climbing frames, enjoy water play, sand play, ride bikes, and carry out creative and role play opportunities and much more…
